Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning. - Benjamin Franklin
Have you heard? Did you spot it in our last issue? Chances are you didn’t.
I recently commented “how we live in very changing times” without even realising that it could be a premonition and as it happened, it was.
Out of the blue, well at least to staff, Food & Beverage Today, along with all the titles published by TPL Media, were sold in April to (shock horrors) a company we had been competing with, MediaWeb.
But isn’t time a wonderful leveler? While the new owners were settling into their new role within our office, we passed them in hallways, shared the lunchroom and got to know them on a relaxed basis before the formal aspect of the changeover occurred.
And when the formalities did come, the informal opportunities had given us a bit of understanding and familiarity.
The result is that most of us will now move forward in our positions under the new company and it will be business as usual to a certain extent. However, there is an air of excitement about the office as we gradually realise that the boundaries of possibilities have changed, that we are on the edge of a new horizon with a view of great things to come.
So while change can be scary and unsettling, the outcome can be worth it.
Without further ado, please join with me in welcoming our new owners, Toni Myers and John Clarke of MediaWeb. Their goal is to bring you the best publications in the marketplace for your sector of the industry, without compromise.
And as the name TPL Media fades from our pages, it would be very remise of me not to mention, Chauncy Stark, publisher/owner of TPL Media. Chauncy built this business pretty much from scratch as a very determined young journalist, who saw opportunities through entrepreneurial eyes and worked incredibly hard to make it happen. His more than 40 years commitment to publishing has earned him great respect both within the industry, and outside it. “Now it is your turn Chauncy to harvest the possibilities that change brings and savour them.”
So to our readers, advertisers and industry contacts, thank you for your support so far. Please consider this as the beginnings of great things to come.
