Food & Beverage Today, is New Zealand’s newest and first hospitality industry newspaper for the licensed café to convenience food sector. Its tabloid format combines newspaper and magazine-style layout features, while its online and e-newsletter components provide in-between issue coverage. 


Food & Beverage Today
has youth on its side in that it has only been in existence since November 2009, but behind its youthfulness is a pedigree of many years.

In 2009 TPL Media, the publisher of a stable of business to business titles decided to move forward with a proposal to combine and redevelop two of its monthly titles, food2Go and Coffee Culture. At the time the publishing industry was starting to feel the initial impact of the global economic downturn, which in the publishing industry was exasperated by the number of titles covering similar or same sectors.

Taking this into consideration, a decision was made to launch a new specialist media title that would bring together the best aspects of food2Go and Coffee Culture then move forward with coverage more up-to-date with what is happening in the licensed café to convenience food sector. The result is an evolving monthly title offering up-to-the-minute coverage of all aspects of New Zealand’s most innovative, creative and vibrant hospitality sector.


In 2011 TPL Media was sold to Mediaweb.


Food & Beverage Today
brings you the latest news from New Zealand and around the world, columns by industry representatives, a platform for industry viewpoints, personality profiles, licensed beverage news and pro-active features to simulate business performance.

Regular articles follow overseas trends and advances in technology, plus provide sound business advice from experts in their field. Considering itself to be part of the industry it covers, Food & Beverage Today has built alliances with key stake-holders to support their initiatives. It is a member of The Chip Group, The Pie Group, a sponsor of the HSI awards and works closely with industry organisations.


Food & Beverage Today
focuses on the café culture and food-on-the-go market and specifically targets bakeries (retail and commercial), cafes, coffee shops, burger bars, fish and chips, family and quick service restaurants, and kebab shops as well as hygiene and food safety institutions.
